M. Shadows, or Matthew Charles Sanders was born in Huntington Beach, California, USA, on July 31, 1981
Matt attended the top-level (high school) in Huntington Beach, California. Where's where young Matt had his first band named Succesfull Failure, which did not last long. Then after that he was with his true friend, Jimmy Sullivan began to form the embryo of Avenged Sevenfold.
In his childhood, Matt is often excluded from school because he repeatedly commit violence, even the principal was Matt who died of uncontrollable behavior. Before singing, Matt playing bass. Matt mastered many musical instruments including Piano, Keyboards, Guitar, Bass, and vocals. and 3 times the surgery because his vocal cords were cut off by the immature scream. Matt at the doctor's verdict can not screaming anymore because if it did it again, his vocal cords could be destroyed. But as we all know, Matt himself still capable of performing Scream and Growl technique of his time on stage, though not as much as it used to be.
When Matt is married to adult Valary DiBenedetto, twin sister of Synyster Gates girlfriend, Michelle DiBenedetto. Valary Matt met when they were in grade 6.
Shadows are a lot of other artists featured in several albums as a supporter. Matt Shadows has a distinctive vocals in every song she sang. Two Avenged Sevenfold album "Sounding the Seventh Trumpet" and "Waking The Fallen" Shadows dominant character Hardcore sound and there is little element of Slow (rock ballad). Once damaged his vocal cords, the third album Avenged Sevenfold's "City of Evil", Shadows had to switch from a scream and growl became more singing, melodic and a little scream scream with a little help from Jimmy The Rev. So also on their fourth album "Self Titled".
